Obama Will Steal the Moderates

As previously pointed out on this blog, John McCain’s run for the White House is one that will meet with utter failure. The problem is simple. McCain has based his political career trying to run in the center. But the problem is simply that when he runs against Obama, he won’t have the center and he won’t have the conservatives.

He won’t have the conservatives for obvious reasons. McCain has also made a career out of sticking his thumb in the eye of conservatives and buddying up to Ted Kennedy and his likes as often as he can.

He won’t have the moderates because Obama will steal them away. Everybody’s anxious to be associated with the “rock star” Obama.

From London, comes this report that shows that Obama will likely include some moderate Republicans in his cabinet, otherwise known as RINO’s (Republican in Name Only). As Obama does this, he’ll steal those kind of voters away from McCain.

Frankly, McCain is stuck between an Obama on one side, and a group (Conservatives) on the other that despise him.

Noteworthy excerpts:

AS Barack Obama enters the final stages of the fight for the Democratic presidential nomination, he is preparing to detach the core voters of John McCain, the likely Republican nominee, with the same ruthless determination with which he has peeled off Hillary Clinton’s supporters.

The scene is set for a tussle between the two candidates for the support of some of the sharpest and most independent minds in politics. Obama is hoping to appoint cross-party figures to his cabinet such as Chuck Hagel, the Republican senator for Nebraska and an opponent of the Iraq war, and Richard Lugar, leader of the Republicans on the Senate foreign relations committee.

Senior advisers confirmed that Hagel, a highly decorated Vietnam war veteran and one of McCain’s closest friends in the Senate, was considered an ideal candidate for defence secretary. Some regard the outspoken Republican as a possible vice-presidential nominee although that might be regarded as a “stretch”.
