The Dumbest Thing I’ve Heard Yet
McCain was really on a roll on Sunday. I hope he keeps this up. It will give me great material every Monday morning.
Read this comment (toward the end of the article) and choke on it:
The leading contender for his party’s presidential nomination, McCain blamed out-of-control spending for a lack of enthusiasm among Republican voters.
“Spending restraint is why our base is not energized,” he said. “I think it’s very important that we send a signal to the American people we’re going to stop the earmark pork-barrel spending.”
That’s actually quite hillarious. Spending restraint is why the base is not energized? That’s the most absurd thing I’ve heard in a long time.
The base isn’t energized because of the man who is the presumptive nominee.
The base isn’t energized because McCain builds a Senate career partnering with liberals (McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lierberman, Gang of 14, No to Bush’s tax cuts twice, etc.) and then when he runs for President he tries to dupe us conservatives into thinking he’s a “true conservative.”
Lack of spending restraint holds down voter turnout. What a bunch of nonsense.
