So Its True: Romney Endorses McCain

So it turns out to be true - Romney endorses McCain.

Malkin mentions that Shep Smith says, “that’s like oil endorsing vinegar.”

We’ll post a link to the text of Romney’s statement when its available.

In the interim, ask yourself why it is that a man who was so vehemently opposed to John McCain would turn so quickly and endorse him. What’s in it for Romney? Who not wait for McCain to demonstrate a conviction to conservative causes? Why not use your delegates for leverage? Many people voted for Romney - why doesn’t he see himself having a “fiduciary” responsibility toward those votes/delegates - a responsibility to use them as leverage to force John McCain to hold up a conservative standard?

Recall just how clear Romney was about McCain’s failings - from McCain-Lieberman, McCain’s false charges about Romney supposedly wanting an artificial timetable for withdrawal from Iraq, to McCain-Feingold.
