Dick Morris: Obama Will Win Nomination

Just as I began saying on February 7, so Dick Morris is also now saying: Obama will defeat Hillary for the Democratic Party nomination.

I believe that Barack Obama will defeat Hillary and win the Democratic nomination. I think that this weekend’s victories in states as diverse as Washington State, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Maine illustrates his national appeal and demonstrates Hillary’s inability to win in states without large immigrant and Latino populations.

The point for us conservative voters is as follows:

A match-up between Obama and McCain is going to be really ugly for us. Obama is new generation, an outsider. McCain is an insider and from yesterday’s generation.

McCain will lose to Obama for the same reason that Hillary is losing to Obama. Its an outsider beating an insider, and that’s what it will be in November. Its youth beating old age, and so it will be in November. Its dynamism and eloquence beating staid and flat.

The only one left in the race on the Republican side that can begin to compare with Obama is Huckabee. He’s not my favorite candidate but he’s the only one left in the race. He’s a Washington outsider. He is comparitively young. He is eloquent (whether you agree with him or not). He’s funny. He’s dynamic.

Conservatives need to continue their rebellion to the forced coronation of John McCain - which will only lead to certain defeat in November, and instead put their efforts into giving Huckabee the “miracle” win which is still technically possible.
