The Danger of McCain Illustrated
Malkin mentions that some Democrats are seeking to revive an amnesty bill for the millions of illegal aliens in this country. Source: The Weekly Standard and Roll Call.
Think of this as a slightly scaled down version of McCain’s plan. Think of it as McCamnesty Lite. (That’s pretty good huh?)
The Weekly Standard says of this approach:
It also makes things more interesting on the Republican side, as presumptive nominee John McCain has previously supported this approach. Having now declared that there needs to be a consensus that the borders are secure before addressing legalization, how will he vote if such a measure passes the House?
The point being here that the danger of making McCain our party’s nominee is abundantly clear. Let’s ask some reasonable questions:
Will the man who partnered with Ted Kennedy on amnesty legislation last year really withstand him this year?
Will the man who sided with liberal Democrats and opposed tax relief for working Americans really turn his back on this legislative efforts?
Will the man who has made amnesty for illegal aliens (no doubt a desperate attempt to buy the votes of Latino voters) a high priority for a number of years - really turn his back on this version?
It easy to say that Obama or Clinton will be much worse for the country than McCain. But that’s a pretty shallow argument for many of us conservatives.
The reason for rebellion is clear.
Here’s a suggestion for our intrepid leader:
If you are the conservative you say you are, and that you claim to have always been… If you want us to believe that you stand with us on conservative issues and reject the granting of amnesty to millions of law-breakers for political expediency - then do this:
Immediately issue a statement condemning this McCamnesty Lite and state in writing that under your administration no such program will ever be considered. Second, state in writing that no guest worker program will be considered until the Department of Homeland Security certifies before Congress than the southern border is secure.
We’ll be waiting.

Also, McCain needs to sign the Numbers USA “No Amnesty” pledge, as well as fire/stop consulting former Mexican government official and open borders advocate Juan Hernandez, now a McCain advisor.
