Knock it Off?

The Tygrrr Express writes today suggesting that conservatives need to just accept the fact that John McCain will be the Republican nominee, we need to just get behind him and “knock it off” - that is, quit complaining about him and get busy supporting him.

They write:

We have 2 options at this point.

1) Tear McCain’s eyes out, ensuring a Hillary Clinton victory and pure misery for conservatives.

Or, we can…

2) Knock it off, and FALL INTO LINE! After McCain wins, conservatives can then fight him when he is wrong. We did this with our current President.

I’m amazed that after a simple 20 minute speech, we conservatives are falling all over ourselves to make nice with McCain. Our options are no so limited that they boil down to two simple choices. That’s like suggesting that a chess player has only two available moves at the start of the game.

We need to quit thinking tactically - and start thinking strategically. Let me suggest some strategic alternatives.

  • Adopt a principled conservative stand that opposes McCain based on the factual reality (not irrational fear - but factual reality) of McCain’s very liberal stand on very important issues of the day. (Restriction of free speech, Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, Energy production taxes, Opposition to Bush tax cuts, etc.)
  • Understand that the damage to our nation from either Obama, Clinton or McCain will be substantial. Each will bring different damage, but each will bring substantial and long-lasting damage.
  • Determine that you will put your time, energy, efforts, money, and enthusiasm into returning the US Senate to Republican control.
  • Determine that you will put your time, energy, efforts, money and enthusiasm into fostering a new generation of principled conservative candidates that will stand up for the principles that truly make for freedom and prosperity.
  • Decide now that you’d rather have a pathalogical liberal as your enemy (Obama or Clinton) than a pathalogical liberal as your leader (McCain).
  • Remember, Obama or Clinton will be a huge setback. But McCain will be a huge defeat and will represent a corruption of the Republican party that will hinder us for years to come.
  • Obama or Clinton (and it will be Obama) will present many challenges for us. But we will be able to fight them from a principled perspective of conservative strength.
  • Remember what makes Obama formidable. He’s wrong on almost every issue - but he is true to his principles - however dumb they may be.

Our only way to fight him and defeat him and his liberal agenda is to stand unyieldingly on conservative principles. Reject John McCain, make him pay the price, and we’ll stand together stronger than ever.

  1. Hard to notice that you failed to even address the GWOT or that our soldiers sacrifices will of all been for nothing if the dems get in office
True, McCain has some liberal stances. But he is hardly a pathological liberal. That kind of talk is border line hysteria.
Since you seem to think either one of the three will do equivalent damage to our nation I would rather have McCain to deal with since the one thing I have faith he wont damage is the lives and sacrifices that have gone into Iraq and Afghanistan. All the while I’m sure he will only build an even stronger defense for our country
