Malkin: Get Fired Up!

While John McCain condescendingly tells conservatives to “calm down” - Michelle Malkin tells conservatives to “Get fired up!”

Malkin points out:

My advice is exactly the opposite: Get off the couch and walk the walk for conservative candidates and officeholders who need all the help they can get defending free markets, free minds, and secure borders—no matter who takes the White House in November.

Excellent advice in deed. Get busy. Push for conservative values. Don’t sit around passively and watch as liberals take over your party. Do something about it. What? Malkin has suggestions:

…pay attention to the next generation of Republican state legislators who do vote consistently to lower your taxes, uphold the sanctity of life, defend marriage, and cut government spending. Support their re-election bids. Reward them for standing with you instead of their Democrat opponents and the liberal media.

Good advice. Some things are out of our control. McCain is the Republican nominee. We can’t change that. We also can’t change the fact that Obama will be the Democrat nominee and Obama vs. McCain boils down to a race between a handsome, tall, eloquent black guy that has tons of support from his base (and far beyond his base) and an ugly, short, ineloquent white guy that has no support from his base. Easy call on this one: Obama slaughters McCain in November. So, get busy doing what you can do. Change what you can change.

If there’s one thing we ought to learn from Obama, its the fact that vision and communication can make what ordinarily impossible, possible. Obama is a testimony to the fact that when you passionately articulate what you believe in, you’ll be successful. Don’t me wrong, Obama is on the wrong side of the issue but is intensely loyal to his liberal values. And, he doesn’t mind passionately articulating those views.

What we’ve been missing on the conservative side is a similar person. We need a person that is passionately articulate about conservative values. We need a conservative Obama.

Malkin’s advice:

Look at Barack Obama. Four years ago, he was in the Illiniois legislature. Now, he’s on the cusp of the presidency.

Point taken. There may be somebody today who is willing to step forward, state their conservative views without apology and change the nation.

Any takers?
